Three men have filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Richland County Sheriff's Department. Derek Grund, Adam Nelson and Christopher Miranowski claim two deputies used excessive force during a traffic stop last August in Abercrombie.

The lawsuit claims the men were assaulted and battered. Court documents say the deputies used "perverse language" and engaged in "offensive touching." The men claim they've suffered from emotional distress, embarrassment and humiliation.

The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages. Richland County State's Attorney Warren Stokes says he has no comment. Stokes says the matter has been turned over to the North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund.
