FARGO - There has been progress on a significant expansion project at the NDSU Research and Technology Park in north Fargo.
Grants amounting to $9 million are paying for a 35,000 square foot addition to the Research 1 building. The project should be completed next fall.
NDSU vice president for research Phil Boudjouk says the facility will house chemistry labs that will do research to expand the commercial uses for technologies developed at the university. The work has been highly successful and Boudjouk says there's great potential for new markets.
Much of the technology has involved coatings, and miniature electronics with military applications, but is now expanding into commercial use. NDSU has partnered with some of the world's leading private sector companies as it works on the new technologies.
