Amidon, N.D. (AP) Crews are battling two wildfires in western North Dakota.
The U.S. Forest Service says the 75-acre deep creek 12 fire was reported Friday morning on the Little Missouri National Grasslands. The blaze about 15 miles northwest of Amidon is burning in grass and Sagebrush. No structures are threatened.
The Forest Service also says the 700-acre Deep Creek 2 fire is burning on the Dakota Prairie Grasslands and private land about nine miles north of Marmarth. No structures were threatened as of Friday evening, but precautions were taken to protect a ranch headquarters in the area.
Officials say hot temperatures, low humidity and strong winds have increased the fire danger in the region.
