For 90 seconds, North Dakota State looked like what you might expect a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) team to look like against a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) foe  in Fort Collins, Colorado.

But, for the next 58 minutes and 30 seconds, it was the Bison who dominated Colorado State University en route to a 22-7 Victory.

The win is NDSU's 3rd straight win over and FBS opponent. FCS schools are limited to 63 scholarships, while FBS schools can give 85 scholarships.

CSU (1-1) marched 80 yards in it's first possession, and just 1:30 into the game Rams quarterback Garrett Grayson hit tight end Crockett Gillmore in-stride for a 69 yard touchdown to put CSU out front 7-0.

If the Bison (2-0) were rattled, it didn't show.

On it's first possession, the Bison needed just four plays, and 70 seconds, before Sam Ojuri (56 yards rushing) marched into the endzone to tie the game at 7-7.

But, it was defense that gave the Bison it's first lead. After NDSU's offense was stopped on 4th and goal from the one - giving the ball back to Colorado State - Danny Luecke tackled a CSU runner in the endzone for a safety to give the Bison a 9-7 lead with 5:34 to go in the first.

NDSU added to the lead when quarterback Brock Jensen (17-28, 178 yards) capped a 12 play 67 yard drive when he dumped off a screen pass to Ojuri for a 10 yard touchdown pass with just 10 seconds to go in the period to give the Bison a 19-7 lead.

The Bison defense came up big again as Cooper Wahlo Jr. blocked a 49 yard field goal attempt midway through the second quarter.

Marcus Williams, who had 7 interceptions a year ago, picked off Grayson with 1:44 to go before the half. That set up an Adam Keller 29 yard field goal as time expired to give the Bison a 19-7 lead at the half.

NDSU grinded it's way to a 22-7 lead late in the 3rd quarter, when Keller capped a 16 play drive with a 33 yard field goal. The scoring drive took over 9 minutes, and chewed up 71 yards - but most importantly seemed to deflate CSU.

"I thought we played really focused, disciplined football," said Bison Head Coach Craig Bohl. "We came in with a lot of adversity, that's a good football team we beat."

North Dakota State is 6-3 against FBS opponents since 2006.
