The city of Minot will be getting $756,000 in grant funds to help it build additional housing for low-income residents.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) - The city of Minot will be getting $756,000 in grant funds to help it build additional housing for low-income residents.
The Community Development Block Grant is from the North Dakota Department of Commerce in conjunction with the Souris Basin Planning Council.
The funds will be used to purchase land for the Washington Townhomes project, which will provide 64 low-income rental units in southeast Minot. The townhomes will be leased to renters who are at or below 60 percent of the area median income.
North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple says the grant program is one of several tools being used to address the need for affordable housing in the state's oil-producing counties.
