BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota oil drillers are continuing to pull crude from underground at a record pace.
State records show the state produced 18.2 million barrels of crude in April. That's up from 10.5 million barrels last year and 17.9 million barrels in March.
North Dakota had 7,025 producing wells in April. That's up nearly 1,500 wells than in April 2011.
Most oil produced in April came from Mountrail County. McKenzie, Dunn, Williams and Bowman counties rounded out the top five oil-producing regions.
April statistics are the latest available because oil production numbers typically lag at least two months.
