Fargo Newspaper Changes Announcement Policy

FARGO - The Fargo Forum will now publish same sex marriage announcements.

The paper reviewed its policy after Fargo couple Allison Johnson and Kelsey Smith were denied an announcement for their upcoming wedding in New York where same-sex marriages are legal.

The paper's refusal drew strong reaction from the area and around the world, most of who believed the paper was wrong in its decision and policy.

The Forum's editor says it will now accept announcements of gay marriages, engagements and anniversaries if the marriage takes place in a state or country where it is legally recognized.

Kelsey Smith says the situation was handled well.

The couple is heading to New York City where they will be married Wednesday.
