ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - An Aberdeen man who once faced nearly two dozen felony sex crime counts has been sentenced to serve 15 years in prison.
Richard Mette, 43, pleaded guilty in March to raping a child younger than 10, and prosecutors dismissed all other charges. The 15-year sentence was part of the plea agreement, and a judge on Tuesday approved it.
Mette will have to serve at least half of the sentence before being eligible for parole. He was given credit for more than a year he already has served.
