SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - The Sioux Falls police department has been awarded a grant to purchase a new latent fingerprint station to assist officers in drug investigations and apprehensions.
Attorney General Marty Jackley says the $35,000 grant was awarded from the Drug Control Fund.
The police department plans to use the grant money to purchase the fingerprint station.
The equipment will allow experts to compare new fingerprints against those of previously arrested individuals.
Sioux Falls Police Chief Doug Barthel says the fingerprint station will benefit communities across the region.
