BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Fisheries officials say North Dakota's lakes have plenty of opportunities for catching pike.
The Game and Fish Department recently stocked 2.3 million pike fingerlings in 69 lakes and rivers across North Dakota.
Fisheries production supervisor Jerry Weigel said the fingerlings were some of the largest that have ever been put into North Dakota lakes. And Weigel says there was plenty of cool water and food to help them thrive.
Weigel says there is also good potential for natural pike reproduction this year.
The daily catch limit for pike has gone up from three to five in most North Dakota lakes and rivers.
