MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - Officials say no one was injured when a charter bus carrying a high school track team caught fire Thursday morning on Interstate 90 about a quarter-mile east of Mitchell.

The Mitchell Republic reports that the bus carrying track members from Milbank High School caught fire shortly after 11 a.m. Officials closed the highway in both directions so firefighters could respond to the fire. Nineteen people were on the bus. All got off safely.

The team was headed to Rapid City for the state track meet. Members of the team said they were told they would get aboard a bus from Mitchell to complete their trip.

The meet starts Friday.
