Fargo's school board president addressed the Moorhead City Council on Monday to talk about the work being done to help stabilize finances for Bluestem Center for the Arts.

Jim Johnson said he hopes to increase the level of local arts programs using the facility while also maintaining a schedule for concerts and other regional events.

Johnson also asked for the council members' participation in input as a working group moves forward with governance and financial structure.

"Once we figure out the road map forward together, we are going to engage community stakeholders, starting with this very body right here, in an open discussion and dialogue about what model and structure has the long-term feasibility and financial stability to make sure, as we go forward, we have nothing but blue skies, sunny days and lots of events," said Johnson.

Johnson says the goal is to have a new governance structure in place to handle the day-to-day operations of Bluestem by this fall.
