FARGO, ND - It took more than three hours, but a young bull moose that wandered into Fargo, ND, was tranquilized and taken outside the city to be released into the wild.
The moose was spotted around 6 a.m. this morning near 45th Street south and I-94. It ended up in a courthard area at the nearby Mainstays Suites Hotel.
Police were standing by, ready to shoot the moose if it bolted. Sargent Ross Renner is pleased with the outcome.
Police used squad cars and city dump trucks to contain the animal until a veternarian could get a clear shot at it with a dart gun from inside a motel room.
Once sedated, it took about a dozen men to carefully load the 1,000 pound moose into trailer.
