FARGO, ND - It is almost a holiday in North Dakota. The deer/rifle season starts at noon Friday.
About 80,000 hunters will comb the prairie this weekend searching for deer. The Game and Fish Department says deer numbers should be healthy once again during the 16 and half day season, but perhaps down a bit from last year after the long, hard winter.
“It should be pretty good. Obviously the winter hurt us but we’re not going to 50 percent down, but maybe 20 percent,” says Greg Gullickson, ND Game and Fish Department.
