MOORHEAD, MN - Members of the Metro Area Flood Task Force have made it clear - a diversion is needed for long-term flood control for the Fargo-Moorhead area.
The committee met for the first time with the Corps of Engineers at Fargo City Hall Thursday afternoon.
Members voted unanimously to eliminate "stand-alone" levees from the list of possibile alternatives.
The Corps of Engineers says a diversion would affect downstream river levels only slightly. The corps says a 35,000 CFS Diversion would make the Red River rise an extra two-and-a-half inches.
