MAHNOMEN, MN - The Mahnomen County Sheriff's Department says the wreckage of a plane was spotted in a remote wooded area 21-miles east of Mahnomen, MN, late Tuesday afternoon.
The site is just into neighboring Clearwater County, in Minnesota. A pilot saw the tail fin of a plane in the dense underbrush and landed in Mahnomen to report it. A deputy flew over site but couldn't determine what kind of aircraft it was.
A massive search has been underway since Saturday for Andrew Lindberg, who disappeared on a solo flight from the Twin Cities area to Hallock, MN, Friday night.
Because of darkness, authorities were unable to send out a search party last night but will head to the scene this morning.
