The October 2009 seat belt enforcement wave was conducted from the 9th to the 22nd. This was the first such enforcement wave by the State Patrol in Thief River Falls since the new primary seat belt law took effect last June. Also of interest this enforcement wave had 31% of the enforcement time between the hours of 7 PM and 5 AM. During this time frame it is more difficult to see into vehicles and observe the seat belt violation.
During this enforcement wave Troopers in the Thief River Falls district stopped 112 vehicles and reported the following as results of those traffic stops:
- 13 seat belt warnings,
- 3 seat belt citations,
- 81 speed warnings,
- 14 speed citations,
- 12 other traffic violation citations,
- 1 driving after revocation/suspension/cancellation of driver’s license.
