A show of support for Mahnomen County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Dewey. Dozens of people lined U-S Highway 59 North of Detroit Lakes to honor the lawman, shot and seriously wounded in the line of duty 18 months ago. He's now in Hospice care after doctors gave him just days to live. Mahnomen County Sheriff Doug Krier drove Dewey's squad car along the route from Mahnomen to Detroit Lakes saying he was honored and called the vigil a "special moment." Many of those who turned out brought balloons that were released after his squad car passed by. Chris Dewey's wife, Emily, wrote on his Caring Bridge web site that the family is in a holding pattern, keeping Chris comfortable and enjoying every moment with him.
