FFA Convention

FFA continues to grow in ND and nationwide.

It's the 83rd annual ND State FFA Convention this week. It's being held at NDSU in the Bunker Field House. 1300 students will take part in what is likely the largest FFA Convention ever held at NDSU. Director Aaron Anderson says the organization is growing more popular each year. ND has 4400 students enrolled and most of them are urban students. He says the organization is so diverse more people are seeing the value in what FFA has to offer them. He says while FFA used to have more boys in the organization, nowadays it's half females and half males.

Students will compete in 21 events this week ranging from horse and cattle judging to public speaking. Agri-science is a new event added to convention this year.

Anderson says FFA is growing nationwide also. He says 540,000 students are enrolled and that is a record number.
