Here are a timeline of events concerning the Lennon Cihak story.
Early in October 2012: Letter to Doug and Shana Cihak encouraging them to come to church and support their son in his quest for confirmation.
October 24, 2012: Confirmation Practice. Lennon was present. That evening, after practice, Lennon posted the now known material on Facebook.
October 25, 2012: Two hour meeting with Doug and Shana Cihak concerning their absence from worship and other matters. (At this time I did not know about the Facebook material and nothing was said in this meeting concerning the material.
October 26, 2012: Facebook material discovered by staff at Assumption in the AM. Telephone conversation in the AM with Lennon during which he said to me that he was no longer interested in being confirmed. (Under the circumstances I would have had to delay his confirmation given the gravity of his non-acceptance of marriage as the Catholic Church understands it and proclaims it.) Telephone conversation with Shana Cihak, Lennon’s mother.
October 30, 2012: Conversation with Bishop Hoeppner in Crookston prior to his coming for the Confirmation ceremony.
November 13, 2012: Parish Pastoral Council meeting at Assumption Parish. Situation discussed.
