Hi Doug:

Well, got into Fargo at a little after midnight with no deer, but a caution for hunters in choosing their shot. I did have a chance to harvest a doe walking with her fawn along the treelike east of my ground blind, but only could get my crosshairs on her lower back and rump. A shot would have brought her down and on a stalk she would be taken, but any true hunter knows that a quick clean kill is what its all about.

Needless to say, but I let her go in the hopes of seeing her next year after her fawn is older and more able to fend for him or herself. Of the dozen or so hunters out there, four deer were taken, including a big ten-pointer, whose rack was a bit out of whack for the size of the buck’s frame. So anyway, my body is drained with four days in the cold dealing with bears and raccoons in the wind.

I am now switching gears for Wyoming and a mule deer by crossbow. Unlike this last hunt, my wife will be coming this time to see first hand what I get, if anything.
