 Hi Doug:

Haven’t written for a while, but been really busy with all the outdoors activities I’m getting together this year. Got my bear in Wyoming this spring as you know and it didn’t have a tag. I don’t think I would ever want to shoot one, since it would feel to me less wild to take a creature that someone handled and dropped back off. Kind of Second hand if you know what I mean.

Getting ready to take another disabled hunter hunting in early October to the northeastern part of Minnesota. He suffered head injuries by an attacker about a month ago and needs a break. My Mountain lion hunt is scheduled for early 2013, but is still up in the air do to a few minor paperwork issues, but should be resolved in a month or two I hope. Also my alligator hide will be here and be soon processed into wallets, or whatever in a month or so. Been a long time on that one. That will probably be the fait of my bear rug as well. Well, taxidermy isn’t an exact science.

Just taking some time now before the festivities really begin to enjoy the packing and planning process. Things are in doubt for western North Dakota this year for my wife and I, do to the change by Game and Fish on the whole baiting issue. The group we normally go with uses that technique and only has a few spots at the refinery left for hunters, which might be filled by now. I’ve taken game, bait or not, so it’s all one to me. The mule deer is a firm with the license in hand and everything so the plane can hit the skies on Halloween. Hope my flight doesn’t get delayed due to any witches in our flight path, ha ha. Anyway, that’s this hunter’s report from the field, so keep on, keeping on.

Best,
