St. Paul, MN – The flu season in Minnesota is off to an active start. The state Department of Health is confirming three more flu-related deaths and a total of six since September. Influenza activity is now considered widespread in Minnesota and there were 60 flu outbreaks in schools last week.
The Health Department’s Karen Martin says influenza B has been the dominant strain and it needs to affect younger people more than adults. She says it’s not too late to get a flu shot because it usually circulates until late spring.
